WINNIPEG - First of all, today was a lot of fun and I think everyone really enjoyed it. We have to give a big thank you to those who have got it all together and the people who put everything in place for us to be able to play today.
It was a huge two points for us.
I think Winnipeg took us a bit in the first period, and we talked a bit in the first intermission and we changed a few things. After that, I think shorthanded goal from Mark Letestu was huge for us. I think it started with us, and from there, I think we played a very solid play.
With a game like this, there are always so many things around us that is a little different from a regular game; a little more special. But for us, at the end of the day, we wanted to come here and get the two points. We did it and we are extremely happy.
The whole game was great. The ice cream was very good. It could have been much worse. It was definitely a good ice and, overall, a good night.
The delay due to sunlight has a little different, but we all knew what we came here and that was to get two points and that is pretty easy for us to focus and stay focused. It was a bit of an adjustment, but a lot of fun. It was a long affair, so the guys were talking a lot and there was some joke. But once the game time came around, we were quite compound.
At this point, I'm not sure one thing stands out as my favorite memory of the weekend. Everything is just amazing. It was great to be part of it and even better to top off with two points.
For an early season like this is great. This gives us great confidence in the team to have a good start and be able to get points together and play with some confidence. It's truly pleasent.
I thought our third period after taking the lead was important. We played well and we start to learn to play in these situations and handle situations like this when we have a lead, and this is huge for our team to be able to play with a lead and protect a lead. Tonight was a good example of this.
